About Kristen

Canadian artist Kristen Céré brings over 20 years of experience as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher across Europe and North America. Her choreographic work is rooted in a deep exploration of movement, energy, and emotion, with a creative voice that is both dynamic and human-centered.

Kristen has created original works for renowned companies such as Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Dresden SemperOper Ballet (Germany), Korzo Theater (Netherlands), Les Ballets Jazz Montréal, and NW Dance Project (USA). Her creations have also been commissioned by prestigious schools including L’École de danse de Québec, Palucca Hochschule für Tanz Dresden (Germany), Ballet Divertimento, École Supérieure de Ballet du Québec, and Kunsthumaniora in Belgium.

Kristen’s choreography has received international recognition, including the Audience Award at the Masdanza International Choreography Competition (Spain) and the Pretty Creatives Award from NW Dance Project (USA).

Her classes reflect her choreographic approach blending technique with improvisation, structure with freedom. She invites dancers into a physical dialogue that values personal expression, risk-taking, and the intelligence of the body.

Kristen is also active in community-based dance and adapted movement practices, using dance as a tool for inclusion, healing, and connection. Her work consistently seeks to inspire authentic expression through presence and creation.

Press Mentions

“Delighful Disruption by Kristen Céré is a favorite. With its thrown gestures, “sock-slides” that move the dancers sideways across the floor, little frenzies of hands, the piece echoes the internal and external movements of this irresistible white-haired old lady.”

– Catherine Lalonde, Le Devoir

“This piece won over the audience with its sheer beauty and energy.”

– Isabelle Lareau, La Bible Urbaine

Sacra Fabula

Sacra Fabula is a choreographic work by Kristen Céré that celebrates the expressive power of the mature body. Set in an intimate and sacred space, the piece transforms movement into a vessel for memory—physical, emotional and sensory—revealing deeply personal narratives. Supported initially by the CALQ and now by the Canada Council for the Arts, the creation sheds light on bodies marked by lived experience, time, and transformation.

Sacra Fabula is a tribute to vulnerability, the quiet strength of time, and the profound beauty of gestures that carry meaning.
